About The Site

SouthOCBuzz.com began with a question: what if there was a place where the residents of this wonderful place could share all the good news about their lives? What if neighbors and friends could celebrate accomplishments and learn about community events? What if we could share our favorite photos of our friends, our kids growing up, our vacations, and even our pets? Could it be a fun, safe place for the entire family? Could it be free?

My name is Greg Hogan. My wife Kelli and I think the answer to all those questions is “Yes!” So we set out to design an online “virtual” community that connects the residents of South Orange County. We’ve built a website where you can post news about school, community, or church events. You can post photos of the 4th grade play or your daughter’s game winning goal in soccer. You can even post a photo of your beloved cat, dog, bird, or goldfish! You can thank the volunteers who made your church event a big success. Students and teachers can be recognized for their hard work. You can even advertise your garage sale or your car…for free! Operating costs for the site are covered by our sponsors, local businesses who we encourage you to visit. This is your site. You decide what’s newsworthy. You determine the daily content. Please send your thoughts about the site and your ideas to make it better. We look forward to your visits and to your contributions.

About Us

Greg and Kelli Hogan are longtime residents of South Orange County. Their sons, Marcus and Darryl, attended Newhart Middle School in Mission Viejo and Santa Margarita Catholic High School.

Kelli, an honors graduate of Harvard University, is founder and president of City Scholars Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping non-profit, neighborhood after-school programs better serve thousands of low-income and at-risk youth. Kelli has received numerous awards for her work, including KCET Public Television’s 2005 “Unsung Hero” award. She has been a "Big Sister", a California Girl's State Governor and Girl's Nation Senator. She enjoys sewing, home decorating, and gardening. And when she’s not doing any of those things, you’ll likely find her in a local thrift shop looking for hidden treasures!

Greg is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has an M.B.A. degree from Northwestern University. He is a marketing executive who has developed award-winning campaigns for many well-known companies including McDonald’s "Mac Tonite character, and for Nike's "Just Do It" campaign. His career also includes senior management positions with The Los Angeles Times and the San Diego Union-Tribune, where he directed the marketing efforts for SignOnSanDiego.com, one of the most successful city websites in the world. He has volunteered with several community organizations, coached basketball at Capo Valley High School, and served on the board of Orange County’s United Way. Greg loves sailing, skiing, and is an avid tennis player. He also claims to make the meanest barbecue pork ribs this side of the Mississippi!
